Preface Whole Music Drumming is a percussion method which follows the basic theory that the best way to study music is through a whole-part-whole concept. Start with the whole song, break it into parts, then put it back together as a whole. Whole Music Drumming is organized in seven parts, plus a curriculum, and an appendix:
Whole Music Drumming has been organized to achieve a balance between the conceptual, the musical and the technical. All the parts of WMD are meant to be used together – more or less at the same time. Do not go through WMD in book order. READ THE INTRODUCTION FIRST In order to understand how this book differs from all the others and really get a grasp on this concept, try to restrain the desire to skip ahead and read the Introduction first. You may never view music in the same way again. Following the
Introduction is the Unit Curriculum which takes all seven
parts of WMD and integrates them onto a time line of approximately one
school year. If carefully followed, it gives both teacher and student a step by
step understanding of how to use Whole Music
Drumming. |
